Liveco Boxing returned to Palm Springs, California for its second Boxing Gala at the Renaissance Hotel on Saturday night. Super lightweight Max Bacerra (12-2-2, 7 KOs) cruised to an eight-round unanimous decision victory over Martin Angel Martinez (17-11-1, 11 KOs) as all three judges scored the bout 79-71.
Super flyweight Sergio Lopez (3-4-1, 0 KOs) pulled the upset over prospect Daniel Andujo (4-2, 1 KO) in a scheduled six round bout. One judge scored the bout even 57-57, but Lopez won on the other two scorecards 58-56 and 59-55.
3-time Olympian Anvar Yunusov of Tajikistan made a successful pro debut against 44-fight veteran Justin Savi, (30-13-2, 20 KOs) in a winning a unanimous decision in a six round lightweight bout. All three judges scored the bout 60-54.
The surprises continued as Moris Rodriguez (6-9-1, 4 KOs) scored an upset over prospect David Lopez (4-1, 3 KOs) in a four-round super welterweight bout. Scores were 39-36, 39-36, and 40-35.
Making their debuts featherweights Jacob Lerma and Tyrone Willis threw punches at each other nonstop for a round. Willis tired out as Lerma continued to batter an exhausted Willis forcing the referee to step in and stop the fight at 1:55.
In the opening bout of the evening, George Acosta (2-0, 0 KOs) earned a solid unanimous decision victory over Antonio Cordona (0-1-1) in a four-round lightweight bout. All three judges scored the bout 40-36.
