WBO junior middleweight world champion Jaime Munguia (34-0, 27 KOs) of Tijuana, Mexico and his opponent Patrick Allotey (40-4, 30 KOs) of Ghana Saturday night at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. The champ came out stalking in the opening round as Munguia applied the pressure backing up Allotey. In round two Allotey connected with a right hand but Munguia continued to go forward. A left hook to body followed by a chopping right to the head dropped Allotey in the third as he got up. Munguia continued his attack as he dropped Allotey for a second time to close the round. The champ closed it out as he dropped Allotey for a third time forcing his corner to stop it as referee Jack Reiss stopped the fight at 2:18.
The ladies were in action as super middleweights Franchon Crews (6-1, 2 KOs) of Maryland and Los Angeles's Maricela Cornejo (13-4, 5 KOs) squared off for WBC & vacant WBO titles in a rematch. Crews dominated Cornejo throughout the fight being the aggressor as Cornejo kept her distance much of the fight. The champion Crews finished strong as she tagged Cornejo with a huge left hook snapping her head back in route to a unanimous decision.
Super lightweights Romero Duno (21, 16 KOs) of the Philippines stopped South Central Los Angeles's Ivan Delgado (13-3-2, 6 KOs). From the start Duno and Delgado did not take a step back. Duno backed Delgado late in the fourth but Delgado held his own fighting back. Delgado was trickling blood from his nose in the fifth as Duno continued to press but Delgado kept fighting on. Halfway through in the sixth, the Filipino landed huge shots backing Delgado. After seven rounds Delgado's corner had seen enough as they stopped the fight forcing the referee to waive it at the end of the seventh.
Garden City, Kansas lightweight Rafael Gramajo (11-2, 2, 3KO's) stopped Daniel Olea (13-9-2, 5 KO) at the end of four. Gramajo dominated Olea throughout the fight as the referee stopped the fight at the end of four.
Making his debut Lightweight Alejandro “Pin Pon” Reyes (1-0, 1 KO) scored a second round knockout over Jorge Padrón (3-5, 3 KOs).
Super flyweight Mexican prospect Joselito Velasquez (11-0, 9 KOs) stopped Francisco Bonilla (6-7-3, 3 KOs) impressively. Velasquez dropped Bonilla a pair of times as the referee stopped the bout.
In the opening bout super middleweight prospect Diego Pacheco (6-0, KOs) of South Central stopped Terry Fernandez (2-1, 2 KOs) in three rounds. Pacheco kept his distance and teed off Fernandez, pummeling him all over the ring and throughout the ring as the referee Eddie Hernandez Jr. had seen enough stopping the fight at 41 seconds of the third.
