Super middleweight Jaime Munguia (44-1, 35 KOs) comes home to Tijuana as he takes on France’s undefeated Bruno Surace (25-0-2, 4 KOs) in a 10-round main event on Saturday, Dec. 14, at Estadio Caliente in his hometown of Tijuana, Mexico in a homecoming fight live on ESPN+.
This will be Munguia's fourth fight this year as he defeated John Ryder early this year by stoppage and then suffered his first defeat at the hands of Mexican superstar and fellow countryman Saul "Canelo" Alvarez in dropping a unaniumous decision in May. Munguia signed with Top Rank and made his Top Rank debut, by scoring a tenth round knockout over the previously undefeated Erik Bazinyan. Surace defeated Milos Jankovic last year in May and is coming off a win over prospect Jhon Jader Obregon back in December.
“I’m very happy to be back in the ring and, above all, to be back in Tijuana. This year has been full of hard work and great fights, which has only motivated me to keep pushing forward. I want to give Tijuana a great night of boxing and thank everyone there for always being by my side and supporting me. It won’t be an easy fight, but we’re confident we’ll come out on top. Viva Mexico and Viva Tijuana!” Munguia said.
